Adidas joined as kit manufacturers for the 1980-81 season. The home shirt had a red V-neck, white arms with red trim, and a red & white stripe pattern displaying noticably thinner red stripes. The adidias three stripes ran from the neck to the cuff in white with red background. The adidas logo and Brentford badge were positioned between the red stripes leading to a more central look.

A pale blue away shirt with dark blue trim and rounded collar was used, and for a game against Fulham in February 1981 a green shirt with white 70's style collar and trim was worn
